a>Monte

a>Monte project is possible made thanks the relational and organisational collaboration between the SoutHertiage Foundation and the artist Ferdinando Mazzitelli (1960, Marzi_CS, live and work in Milan). Is a programme of hospitality and commonality for contemporary artistic research implemented in the one of the most evocative villages near  Matera: Montescaglioso, a municipality chosen symbolically because it was already the site of “Oreste” (a cultural organisation and artist´s residence presented at the 48th Venice Biennial, active from 1997 to 2002, through periodic meetings of artists, critics and intellectuals in a number of Italian locations including Montescaglioso and Matera).
The specific goal of the project is to create a series of public moments of reflection, deepening, comparison and research, between contemporary culture and liminal territories. The residency period, conceived on the idea of “otium” (in the Latin sense of the term), does not necessarily require a final production: the only “production” required is the connection between the participants and the reference territory in a relationship of equal cultural and material sharing. Among the participants and guests of the project, in its various editions since 2009: Angelo Castucci, Matteo Lucchetti, Francesca Speranza, Francesco Galluzzi, Sergio Racanati, Pierfabrizio Paradiso, Francesco Sollazzo, OinO (Paola Sabatti Bassini + Piero Almeoni), Mauro Bubbico, Vincenzo Santarcangelo, Francesco Lomonaco, Rocco Lomonaco, Angelo Garbellano, Angelo Calabrese, Franco Avena, Angelo Danzi, Nunzio Locantore, Giovanni Pierro, Franco Russo, Angelo Caruso, Simona Caramia, Antonio Soranno, Mimma Tarantino, Bianco-Valente & Ass.
